Communication Issues in Autism & Asperger Syndrome - 2nd (revised) Edition

I am happy to announce that the 2nd Edition of Communication Issues in Autism & Asperger Syndrome has now been published.

In this book, I provide a theoretical foundation for understanding communication and language impairments specific to autism.

This includes: the effects of different perceptual and cognitive styles on the communication and language development of autistic children as well as nonverbal language - which can be visual, tactile, kinaesthetic, auditory, olfactory or gustatory - to establish verbal communication.

The reason I have revised this book, is due to changes in recent research as well as changes in terminology. This book is aimed to help all those who work with autistic individuals with the final chapters dedicated to assessment and intervention issues with recommendations for selecting appropriate methods and techniques to enhance communication.

In this book, I also give examples of what it is like for the autistic individual in my ' What They Say' section to help you understand their language differences first-hand.
